subject How do I save this plant?
fuzzyduc 2005-12-28 07:43:13
Hi,

I have a dying Mother of Thousands. It's almost 6 ft tall and it's grown very well for the past two years. I went to water it today after seeing the dirt bone dry and noticed that the main stem is soft in the middle. But the top of the stem is still very sturdy.

How do I save this plant? Am I to cut off the top part of the plant and replant it and toss the dead part out?
Help!
Ruth

If yours is anything like mine, then they produce ariel roots very quickly when sprayed with a fine mist.

The soft in the middle is probably rot, or where the wind has bent it.

You could try burrying the plant to about an inch above the soft part, but check every so often to see if it has rooted. Once it has rooted above the soft part, cut it off.....making sure to rid it of all the affected squishy bits.

Hope this helps,

Leesa
