| subject Put Bryophyllum pinnatum in the ground?? |
| lhotchkiss 2005-08-20 19:15:32 |
Hi, Lori the Aphid Hater here again ....
I have a fairly large Bryophyllum pinnatum that I've been growing in a pot on my back porch for a year - I think he's getting big enough to go in the ground but am worried about the winter months. I know it's not native to the area and am wondering if it will tolerate the cold weather. I am in Austin, Texas.
Thanks!

Hi Lori! :-)
I'm no expert on min. temperatures for B's, but I guess if your temperature doesn't go lower than 50F (10C) it is safe to put the plant outside permanently. The avg. min. temperature in Madagascar (where the B's come from) is about 50F.
Better ask the folks at the Crassulaceae Maillist.
Yours,
Captain. |
