| subject Bryophyllum gastonis-bonnieri all lost to frost! |

| I lost all of my Bryophyllum gastonis-bonnieri plants to frost this winter. I really hate that, because I'd really gotten attached to them. Oddly, all of my diagremontianum plants survived and thrived through the cold weather. One had an inflorescence that was at least 10" wide! |

Hi there! :-)
That is too bad!
I don't have a gastonis-bonnieri plant here - actually I have problems getting my plants over winter too, so my amount of species is decreasing quite much. It's too cold here to leave them outside, so I always put them inside in the flat. The lack of light and the warm air cause them either to etoliate if kept too wet or dry out.
What was the minimum temperature at your location ?
Cheers,
Captain. |

My gastonis-bonnieri suffer through the winter here too. (Ohio, USA) The poor thing. The plant looks really sick now, BUT it's getting buds so I think it's going to bloom, which I'm excited to see. This will be the first time that I'll see a bryophyllum bud.
Do they only bud when they are in distress?
I'm sure this plant will not make it through the winter.
Bluefrog, did you find or get any more gastonis-bonnieri ?
I'd send you a couple plantlets, but I think they'd freeze. |
